Because of You

(John McGie/Jon Lundquist)

BECAUSE OF YOU

The sad sky lets the rain go slow
Down a dog day afternoon
Puddle jumpers in three piece suits
Relive their long lost youth
The birds try to sing in key
But the world is out of tune
Except for you
Oh how I love you

Mirrored faces in concrete skies
Pollute the human sea
The frantic flood of 9 to 5
Is slowly drowning me
The perception of deceptive wealth
Is all that I can see
Except for you
I love you

When pan handling Peter Pans
And Jesus with a frown
Decorate their yellow brick roads
With trinkets that they found
When stuff is not enough
And emptiness abounds
I turn to you
Oh how I love you

The phone rings in the last day’s call
And the coffee stops its brew
A day lost just to survive
Another day away from you
I stand in line for the bus back home
Three pieces load on two by two
I turn to you
Because of you
Because of you
Oh how I love you
